RULES

THE COMPETITION IS TO BE PLAYED AMONGST 6 TEAMS
THE FIRST ROUND STARTS ON TEUSDAY, 19th July 2005.  SHOULD AN ENCOUNTER BE POSTPONED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER OR POSTPONED BY THE ORGANIZERS, THE ENCOUNTER WILL BE PLAYED DURING THE FOLLOWING WEEK

PLAYERS

 (A)        Players are to be listed in their order of selection.

 (B)        All players must at least play six (6) encounters
Should there be a possibility that a Player will not be able to play All his/her matches as in clause B, the organizing committee shall be obliged to insert the name of that player in his/her category after consultation with the Team Captain. A walkover will be given to the opposing Team.
(C)    In the case of an absence by a member of the team where no reserves are available, the captain may promote a player from a lower category. The promoted player may also play in his category in the same encounter. The match played by the promoted player does not satisfy clause B.
A captain may opt not to replace a scratched player. In this case and in the case of a player scratching in the 2nd.Round, the scratched player may only be replaced by lower ranked player.  A Bottom player must always be replaced except in the Semi-Final or Final matches.

 TEAM SELECTION:-
The selection list is to be presented to the organizers 15 minutes before the starting time of the first match, duly signed by the captain. No amendments can be made after the fixtures have been presented to the organizers. No amendments may be made to the team selection posted on the Notice Board.
Permanent replacements for injured players will only be allowed up to the end of the 1st Round and on the production of a Medical Certificate. Possibly, a reserves’ list must be compiled by the committee before the Captains’ meeting at the beginning of the tournament. If no pre- listed reserves are available another suitable player may be found with the approval of the Captains. If no consensus is reached the Organizing Committee will have the final say.
Any protest must be submitted in writing to the organizing committee within 24 hours of their occurrence. Protests will be dealt with by the Organizing Committee and the decision taken by the organizers shall be final and binding.

SCORING:-

Every match shall consist of two sets. Tie-Break will take place when the score is Six-All. One point shall be given for every set won. A Round Robin on a two-Round basis shall be played between the number of teams taking part. The first four placed teams will pass to the Semi-Finals. The first placed team shall play the fourth placed team and the second shall play the third. The winners of these encounters shall play for the First and second place in the Final match.

If two or more teams obtain an equal number of points, the winner of their encounters will be declared winner. Should this does not produce a winner the team with the largest number of games won (of all the matches played in the qualifying rounds) will be declared the winner.
In the Semi-Final and Final, a Tie Break will be played in one of the rubbers, which Tie-Break will be decided by lot. This Tie Break will only be applied should the encounter ends in a draw (in sets and games won).
If a player is not in the premises within 15 minutes of the scheduled time of play or 5 minutes (provided previous match has taken more than 1 hour 15 minutes) after the previous match has ended, one point will be awarded to the opposing team. If the player is still not in the premises after a lapse of a further 5 minutes another point will be awarded to the opposing team. In both cases the score will be registered as 6-0.
Players who scratch or give a walkover without valid reasons may have to appear before the Disciplinary Board.
